MuseumPuppet Theatre - Play of Life
We focus on sensuality – the aesthetic experience in the exhibition spaces is our first priority.
From within the abundance of the collection, we present primarily tangible case studies and devote ourselves to thematic focal points in a constant rotation. For the dramaturgy of our exhibition spaces, we use experiences from actual theatre work and endeavour to present our exhibitions – similar in this regard to theatre productions – as offers of interpretation within the realm of freedom of expression. There is no dominant narrative, but rather the voices of multiple narrators with their perspectives and interpretations. KOLK 17 is a place of fellowship – not only in the theatre performances but also in the exhibition spaces.
The new Exhibition
Puppet Theatre - The Game of Life
What does puppet theatre actually mean? Where does it begin – and where does it end? The art of puppet and object theatre springs from the human desire to breathe life into inanimate things.
Let yourself be surprised, moved, and inspired – by the magic that arises when something seemingly lifeless suddenly comes alive with soul.
„Wir wünschen Euch einen großen Flausenreichtum für Eure Arbeit in dem neu entstehenden Palast der Puppen, Objekte, Schatten und Figuren in Lübeck.“
Online Collection
KOLK 17 aims to make its collection accessible to the public, thereby strengthening inclusivity for all. The online collection serves not only as a factual and professional research tool for specialists but also as an exploratory entry point for everyone through curated content. Gradually, the exhibition objects are being digitized, where possible provided with CC licenses, inviting you to discover and explore in the Online Collection.
The research and exhibition project “Who’s Talking?” opened the door to an artistic exploration from six artists from African, Asian and European countries of the KOLK17 collection. The recurring question however, is: Who is talking?
