KOLK 17 Puppet Theater & Museum is a cultural institution for puppet theater in Lübeck. KOLK 17 combines one of Europe’s most important specialized collections of puppet theater, with over 20,000 objects, and a dedicated venue with a regular performance schedule. Puppeteers and scholars work hand in hand here. In 2018, a major renovation and modernization phase began. While the museum is closed during renovations, exhibition projects continue in collaboration with other museums, and theater work is ongoing with the KOBALT Puppet Theater. The reopening in the restored buildings on Kolk is planned for spring 2025. With a small team, we are on our way to creating an open museum and are working on our digital strategy. Our ambition is nothing less than to reinvent how the art of puppet theater is exhibited!
