In 2021, puppeteer Li Shasha was invited to KOLK 17 to research the Southeast Chinese iron rod puppets in the collection. The clues she uncovered led her to contemporary puppeteers in the Chaoshan region.

In 2024, she travelled back to the region and filmed performances of ‘The Fivefold Happiness’ at the Lunar New Year.
