Violence is often depicted in hand puppetry – as in the executioner scene in Punch and Judy shows in England. This is a form of Kasper theatre that is often performed on beach promenades in England. Here, puppets can still be seen being hanged to this day. People find these depictions funny because they are not ‘real’. But on the other hand, they can be disturbing.
